A practical overland rule is to size solar from daily watt-hours, not just battery size.

Solar harvest is panel watts multiplied by peak sun hours multiplied by real-world efficiency. A 200W panel in 4.5 peak sun hours at 75% efficiency can recover about 675Wh/day.

Common setups

Fridge-only weekend rigs often work with 100-200W. Fridge plus Starlink often needs 300-500W if parked. Cloudy winter trips need more battery and more charging margin.
